  • Moving to Den Haag need advise

    Hi,

have to write in English as my Dutch is very limited. Glad I managed to register myself!

I am moving, for work, in the middle of September to Den Haag and am in need of help when it comes down to gyms and dietary supplement.

I usually go around 6 times a week to the gym. I dont need to much in terms of equipment. Working with lots of free weight and rowing & cycling machine. Therefore, almost any gym works well for me.

Can you recommend anything? What are the costs I am facing? What are the contract options in the Netherlands? Lonterm vs. shortterm?

I prefer rather big gyms where I am more or less left alone and dont have to wait for, in case I use a machine, equipment to be available. Also openning hours are important to me? Planning on going before work in the morning hours.

Is there a sports nutrition shop in the Hague? What about online shops? Is sports nutrition much cheaper when bought online in the Netherlands?

Thnx a lot for any help and info!

    Cheers
    T

      Hello THCR,

Normally you have to introduce yourself first, on this site (Bodynet). Meaning, tell something about your stats, like.., your goals, weigth, length, age, everything you think is necessary to know about you. Because, if you don't..., lots of us, won't give you an answer... sorry, but those are the rules.
But the most members will make an exception, because you're not familiar around here, and like talking english/american.

I live somewhere else, so I'm not familiar in Den Haag ('s-Gravenhage), but the question is, do you prefer a hardcore gym or a basic gym... I think you rather prefer a basic gym with lots of facilities... don't get me wrong, because the hardcore gyms also have the right gear.

There are a few members around here who can tell you more about the gyms in Den Haag. But maybe this link will help you further... the dutch Yellow Pages (I already set the gyms in Den Haag):

Gouden Gids Bedrijvengids - fitness & den haag - telefoonboek, telefoonnummer, telefoongids en map

      (look for: rubriek: sportscholen)

Beside the sport, maybe this is a good link for you also...

      Denhaag.com

And about the nutrition... the most gyms sell supplements, and the prices are almost equal as on the internet. But some internetsellers offer a nice discount.

The costs of a membership variate between 40 to 60 euro's. So that's about, lets say, 55 to 80 dollars a month unlimited. But there are cheaper ones as well. Contracts are for 1 month/3 months/6 months or a year... the longer you'll take, the more discount you'll get... It will save you maybe 5 to 10 dollars...

The opening hours are different for every gym... some will open at 7.00 am others 1 pm. But most are open urly.

Good Luck, and have a nice time in Den Haag!

      Greetzz J.
